A slow start to the week but an extremely busy week-end. A pleasure as always to host the Ashington Kingfishers for their memorial day on Sunday. Despite the frequency of the downpours we managed to make a success of the barbecue!
18 rods attended with a rod average of 1.33. The competition was won by John Taylor with a total weight of 2.21 kg and a best fish of 1.29 kg, Sid Dixey cams a very close second with a total weight of 2.20 kg and a best fish of 1.19 kg.
Saturday’s best performance was that of James Carr and boat partner Barry Keenan. James had 17 fish to the boat and Barry 10. Heaviest fish was 3lb.8oz and the most effective fly pattern was a diawl bach.
We topped the stock up in both lakes on Friday and there is no shortage of fish to be caught!
Number of fish taken: 31
Number of fish returned: 124
Number of visiting anglers: 70
Successful fly patterns: diawl bach, black & peacock, blue flash damsel, claret hopper, sedge, bibio.
