Sweethope Fishery Weekly Report week ending 15/07/18

It’s a bit cooler today and rain is forecast so hopefully the 20 degree water may cool down a little in the near future and we will be able to think about restocking without stressing the new arrivals too much!

There has been a steady stream of anglers visiting Sweethope this week and fish are still being caught.

Performance of the week was from Neil Hodgson from Stanhope who brought 10 rainbow trout to the boat on Friday, best fly being a booby.

We hosted the Weardale fly fishers on Sunday, 8 anglers took 8 fish which with an average weight of about 2lb. Best performance was that of  Ian Malpass who took 2 fish and returned 1 to the lake.

Number of fish returned: 49

Number of visiting anglers: 62

Rod average: 1.0

Successful fly patterns: buzzers, Dawson’s Olive, bloodworm, cat’s whisker, orange dancer, Kate McClaren, black dries, hopper, black foam spider.
