With many anglers struggling I have decided to bump up the stock with some new fish this week. Northumbrian Police and Northumbrian Water both held competitions this week on Thursday and Saturday respectively. Both clubs found conditions on the Great Lough challenging yet on Friday Chris Guthrie managed 8 trout to the boat fishing small dries in the margins, under the trees on the South bank and on Sunday Eric Caisley and Graham Sanderson brought 17 rainbows and 1 brown trout to the boat, fishing Daddies and Midas flies.
The small lake is still fishing well and on Sunday there was a lot of fish moving on the surface in the morning.
Number of fish taken: 6
Number of fish returned: 45
Number of visiting anglers: 51
Successful fly patterns: Daddy, Midas, Diawl Bach, PTN, Small black dries.
