Very busy week at Sweethope with a bank holiday, mainly light winds and very little rain encouraging anglers from all over the region. A big hatch of very small, black flies has resulted in great top of the water sport for those fishing size 14 and smaller black dries.
Performance of the week was that of Messrs. Clark and Horn from Morpeth who returned 16 rainbows and 2 blue trout to the Great Lough on Friday.
On Sunday, unfortunately the windiest day of the week we hosted the Kelso Angling Association. 17 anglers took 26 trout and returned a further 6. Ronnie Glass took 3 trout, weighing 5lb 5 oz, Tam Brown 3 for 4lb 9oz and Kenny Dumma 2 trout for 4lb 7oz, the heaviest weighing 2lb 8oz.
Number of fish taken: 68
Number of fish returned: 169
