Sweethope Fishery Weekly Report, week ending 9/06/19

A varied week of weather with the temperature up and down and the wind of various strengths from all points of the compass. Occasional hatches of insect life have led to some great sport on dry fly but other tactics have also been required and proved successful.

Northumbrian Water visited again on Saturday and had a great day’s sport, taking 36 trout. The heaviest bag was caught by Phil Waggett at 7lb 5oz, shortly followed by Alan Bolton with 3 fish for 7lb 4oz and Dave Wilson with 3 fish for 6lb 14oz.

Eyemouth Angling Society also visited on Saturday with 11 anglers taking 30 fish and returning 41.

Heaviest bag of 3 fish was that of D. Dougal , taking 3 fish for 7lb 9 oz, followed by B. Douglas and R. Thomson with 3 fish for 7lb 5oz.

We will be re- stocking on Friday to maintain the numbers of fish in the lakes

Successful fly patterns: Daddy, buzzer, squirmy, orange blob,  buzzer, mayfly, cdc, small black hopper, green beetle, diawl bach.
