Sweethope Fishery Weekly Report, Week ending 9th July 2017

We have had a successful week at Sweethope, hosting two club competitions and many individual fishermen. Conditions were perfect on Wednesday. Guy Nicholson brought 19 rainbows and 1 brown trout to the net and his boat partner, Jim Burtle managed 8 rainbows, including one weighing over 12lb. On the same evening Gordon Boulding from the Kingfishers recorded catching so many fish he lost count from the dam end of the Small Lough!

We hosted the Northumbrian Police Open Competition on Thursday which was won by Nathan Crain with a total weight of 12lb 12oz. Best fish was that taken by Eric Brunton which weighed 3lb 2oz.

On Saturday we hosted the British Float Tube Association. It was impressive to see 9 tubes all set afloat on the Great Lough and also pleasant to report that all tubers caught fish! Perhaps no surprise to note that with home advantage Tony Barclay was declared the winner taking 3 fish for 6lb 10oz and returning a further 9.
